Abstract: 

The main focus of the NANOSENSING project is to propose an alternative concept for gas sensors, with near-single molecule sensitivity, especially tailored for environmental protection purposes in the automotive sector. The NANOSENSING project aims to develop low-cost gas sensors, based on metal-oxide semiconductor (MOS) structures, containing several types of noble metal (NM) nanoparticles (NPs), with near-single molecule sensitivity with large relevance for several industrial sectors. (…)Consequently, LSPR can be explored for the development of gas sensors with lower detection limit, smaller ecological footprint and competitive cost when compared with conventional thin film sensors. The proposed materials represent benefit to society both in terms of new innovative technical solutions and in terms of industrial development.
